Hazard Assessment
Southwest Horizon School Division values our employees as our greatest asset and strives to provide a hazard free, safe and healthy workplace that complies with all Federal and Provincial Workplace Safety and Health Regulations. In dealing with workplace hazards, Southwest Horizon School Division has adopted this procedure to provide employees with guidelines for completing Job Hazard Assessments. Proper Hazard Assessments provide us with the information required to properly protect employees against work related injuries and illnesses.
Definition
A Hazard Assessment is defined as the process of examination of potential losses resulting from workplace hazards, changing conditions in the workplace or within the Workplace Safety and Health program. The type of loss may be injury, illness and damage to Southwest Horizon School Division property or loss in production or damage to the environment.
To limit these losses, the management team will be involved in the ongoing review of all the hazard assessments and will review the process on a yearly basis to ensure the success of the procedure. It is responsibility of the each and every worker to understand and take part in the Hazard Identification process.
The Southwest Horizon School Division Hazard Assessment includes:
Safety H.I.T. List booklet (Maintenance and Trades only)
Job Hazard Analysis
Hazard Assessment Form
The hazard identification process does not deal strictly with things that are wrong at the present time but also what could go wrong. Therefore training in Hazard Identification is essential for all Southwest Horizon School Division staff as it’s a required part of the Workplace Safety and Health program.
