Mrs. Bodin's Grade Four Class

Welcome back everyone! I hope you all had a great summer break. We have 18 students this year. I would like to welcome our new student Brianna-Lynn to our class. I will begin the year with some formal testing to learn what background knowledge your child has. This will help me determine where I need to focus individual academic attention. We are beginning a different spelling program this year. It is tailored to your child's ability. I will begin with a spelling assessment to place them, and then work from there based on the results. The grades 5 and 6 teachers used this program last year and found it to be very rewarding and successful with the students. You child may bring homework home some nights to complete. Generally there is enough time given in the day to complete the work, but at times just a bit more time is needed. If your child does not have specific homework from school they could read for 10-15 minutes, practice the basic math facts, or go on the Mathletics website. Please send a water bottle with your child. They can keep it at their desk during the day. We will continue with morning snack time. Please send a nutritious snack like fruit, veggies, a muffin etc. Please check our Grade 4 website regularly to see what we are working on. I check my email daily so you may contact me that way.
