Promote Excellence in Learner Outcomes

 

  • Review prior levels of achievement, provincial/divisional testing, to monitor student progress on a yearly basis (September - October)
  • Promote use of Video Conferencing system in schools to provide highest quality instruction to students from the most qualified teachers
  • Improve divisional assessment practices in formative/summative areas
  • Provide Differentiated Instructional programming to extend the learning of all students

 

Develop/Utilize Data to Make Informed Instructional Decisions to Guide P.D. and Improve Student Learning

 

  • Establish committees of teachers and administrators to analyze current use of existing student achievement data from provincial standards testing
  • Continue the work of the assessment committee to plan next steps to utilize existing data, and create alternative common assessments to gather additional information if necessary
  • Utilize ELA benchmarks and First Steps Math to determine EY progress, develop common assessments for MY and utilize provincial testing more for SY in school/divisional context
  • Emphasize system and program progress, how do we know we are improving?
  • Consider alternatives to compare divisional data in EY and MY to other school divisions in Manitoba to establish more precise provincial benchmarks at these levels
  • Continue joint research projects with the Brandon University Centre for Aboriginal and Rural Education Studies –HSAP/CTS study

 

 

Implement Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment Strategies to Increase Teacher Capacity and Improve Student Learning  

 

  • Focus PD on targeted areas to increase capacity among staff
  • Facilitate opportunities for stakeholders to analyze progress across the division.
  • Promote Differentiated Instruction proficiency among all staff across the division at divisional P.D. days.
  • Make recommendations for continual improvement, and to identify areas of concern at all levels in the school and school division, to target PD activities to meet the goal of continual system improvement.
  • Provide opportunities for teachers to share best practices in regular classroom and video conferencing settings through divisional P.D. days or other venues.
  • Improve divisional assessment practices in formative/summative areas

 

Provide Excellent Learning Opportunities for All

 

  • Continue developing Early Learning/Day Care Centres in our Schools
  • Develop further agreements with Post Secondary Institutions to offer advance programs and credits to senior years students
  • Promote use of the Video Conferencing System in schools to enhance student programming
  • Expand Career Technology Studies/High School Apprenticeship Program to all Schools through a new regional delivery model and continued membership on the CTS Regional Consortium
  • Continue divisional efforts to support individualized instructional practices across the division
