The Operations Department ♦ Coordinates all of the bussing within the division, including school-related field trips. ♦ Transports approximately 870 students to and from school on division owned buses. ♦ Operates 38 rural routes.
Our buses are maintained and regularly serviced by qualified Mechanics who are based out of two shops located in Souris & Melita.

School Bus Drivers Our bus drivers are highly qualified and an integral part of the education system. In addition to annual job-related training, they are required to participate in on-road and pre-trip inspection evaluations every over year. They also receive first aid and CPR certification, as well as specialized training to deal with student medical issues (such as epi pen use, anaphylaxis, asthma).
To Become a Southwest Horizon School Bus Driver
Process: 1. Complete the application form and forward to the Operations Department along with your resume and cover letter describing why you are interested in becoming a school bus driver. (via email, fax or mail)
2. Once your application has been processed and if you are selected to take the Driver's Training, you will be contacted by the Operations Department with information regarding the next Training Course Dates.
3. At this point you will be required to complete additional paperwork, including Criminal Record Check, Child Abuse Registry Check, Driver's Abstract, and a Medical for Class 2 Licence.
4. Participate in a 3 day training session (Classroom setting - 24 hours of instruction)
5. Participate in minimum 8 hours of driving time with an instructor
6. Take required tests to gain Class 2 Licence and School Bus Endorsement.
