The following Rules and Regulations are an important part of succeeding in achieving a Safe Work Culture.  These rules and regulations will reduce injuries, workplace illnesses and damage to division property.


Southwest Horizon School Division Safety Rules are:

  • Safety is the responsibility of all employees.
  • Know your responsibilities and rights.
  • All personnel on specific job sites must wear personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • While operating equipment appropriate PPE must be worn at all times.
  • (Example: eyewear, safety boots, gloves, respirators, proper clothing)
  • Report all near misses, accidents/incidents to your immediate supervisor immediately.
  • Notify your immediate supervisor immediately of any equipment malfunctions or breakdowns.
  • Perform your work duties in accordance with your Safe Work Procedures and Practices.
  • Only trained and qualified employees may operate machinery and powered equipment.
  • Prior to operating any machinery, power tool or powered mobile equipment, a pre-use checklist must be completed.
  • (Example: check for guards, belts and overall working condition)
  • Consumption of illegal drugs and alcohol are strictly forbidden.
  • Proper housekeeping should be upheld in all workstations.
  • Use 3-point contact at all times when walking down stairs or ladders.
  •  When in doubt ask your immediate supervisor for clarification.
