What we Already Have:
High Speed Internet available in all schools
Grade 12 students already able to graduate via IITV courses currently available
What we Need:
Course Development:
It was felt the most relevant areas to develop courses for 2008/9 were: History 30, English 30, Career Development 20, Biology 30.
In 2009/10 the most relevant areas to develop course would include Biology 40, Science 20, Social Studies 20 and English 20. As well as two Grade 9 courses - ICT and Career Development.
However, we need to be more open to the possibility of more courses (and more options outside of the above courses) being implemented faster, if staff are keen and interested in putting their courses on Moodle then we should try to allocate resources to enable this – we do not want to prevent or limit teachers participation if they want to create more courses..
Dedicated Server for eLearning
Action Plan
Post information in schools to see which teachers are interested in developing these courses.
Get funding in place to support development of courses (training, honorariums and substitute teacher costs).
Moodle
Promote Moodle within schools.
ALL senior years teachers to adapt to this form of teaching and become proficient in it.– Run workshops to teach staff.
The staff teaching IITV next year should be among the first teachers trained. Moodle the IITV would work very well together.
